Job Description

If the answer is “Yes” then we want to hear from you. We are looking for an experienced Senior Researcher / Statistician to join our friendly and dynamic Research team which works across the whole organisation to:

1.      Provide high quality research and information for the improvement of national assessment and certification processes related to national qualifications.
2.      Evaluate and report on the processes and outcomes of national qualifications at both the secondary and tertiary levels of education. 

In this role, fixed term for 12 months to cover parental leave, you will:

·        Take a leadership role in research projects requiring statistical expertise including design, implement and manage research / evaluation projects
·        Work closely with members of the Research team, internal business units, the research community and other sector agencies
·        Contribute to research investigating the quality of assessment instruments and processes
·        Report on national trends in qualification acquisition (including NCEA) to support policy evaluation
·        Collate information, interpret statistics and assist with data requests
·        Prepare high-quality research reports, presentations and other information for dissemination and publication.

If you have an interest in learning and assessment in the Education sector,  extensive experience of using parametric and non-parametric methods for data analysis, experience of working in a research, evaluation and / or data analysis team environment, sound knowledge in applying qualitative and quantitative research techniques including expertise in using statistical software (SPSS and / or SAS),  excellent writing, presentation and interpersonal skills with an ability to get the job done, then this is the role for you!
